Med(24) is proud to introduce the Private Pain Unit (PPU). The PPU is a evidence based multi-disciplinary team of pain experts. They provide easily accessible one-stop diagnosis and treatment to get you pain free as soon as possible.
We have a simple approach - we use our onsite diagnostic machines to diagnose your pain and if possible, treat on the same day! It’s that easy. Our aim is to use our on-site specialists to get you pain-free and back to living your best life.
PPU operates from Monday to Friday and works around YOU! If you require an early appointment before the rush-hour we can facilitate this. Likewise, if you require an appointment after work - we can make this happen.
Pain is your body’s way of letting you know that something is wrong. Our unit focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of painful conditions. This includes musculoskeletal pain (from joints and muscles) and pain from damaged nerves. Treatment of pain can be enhanced by physio, osteopathy and even acupuncture - this is why we work with a variety of specialists to help resolve your pain.
The pain we treat can be split into two types:
So even if you think your pain is bearable, you need to take it seriously. Every part of your body, including your skin, organs and muscles, has pain receptors to let you know when something is wrong. Our team of experts can help you take back control of your life. This includes treatments from pain relief injections to physiotherapy treatment.
Remember, we don’t have a waiting list! We aim to see, diagnose and treat you, all you in one week (and hopefully, the same day)
So how does PPU work?
Our consultants believe in the value of helping you get out of pain. They do this by starting off with holistic one to one consultation. Whatever the case may be, we put you at the centre of your care with the aim of getting you out of pain as soon as we can.
Our expert consultants have immediate access to high-quality diagnostic tools, including MRI, Ultrasound, and X-ray scans, to make a precise diagnosis. We take a bespoke approach to make a full and accurate assessment of your pain, its cause and how best to treat it.
We offer a varied number of treatments to alleviate your pain as soon as possible. This includes, but is not limited to:
There are several types of injections we can offer depending on the pain you’re in. Below are some examples of the injections we offer: Local anaesthetic injections - our highly skilled experts can inject under local anaesthetic. This means you can walk in and out on the same day! We can inject the lower back, hips, knees, ankles and facet joints.
We also offer outpatient injections. This can comprise of steroids, nerve blocks, hyaluronic acid ,intramuscular injections and much more.
We offer a wide range of regenerative medicine treatments. This could be:
The injections we offer can reduce pain for three months and in some cases even longer. They are to be used alongside good rehabilitative options as this is crucial to holistic treatment. Good rehab ensures that the effects of the injections last as long as possible.
We work with a range of rehabilitative experts including physios, osteopaths and acupuncturists. Our aim is to ensure you have everything you need to ensure all your rehabilitative needs are met. You will be educated on a long-term plan to manage your aftercare.
There is a wide range of various different pain relief injections available, each with their own subset of specific uses to help treat and ultimately relieve pain in a given area. Typically, a steroid medication is injected to deliver a powerful anti-inflammatory solution directly to the area causing pain.
For example; a typical steroid injection, when injected into a joint or muscle, the steroids reduce redness and swelling (inflammation) in the nearby area. This can help relieve stiffness, soreness and overall chronic discomfort.
A few injections you would tend to see associated with pain management are as follows;
As by their given name, pain relief injections are for pain relief. Injections can be more effective than an oral medication because they deliver medication directly to the exact anatomic location that is generating the pain.
